Building Our Own Technology — With Shareholder Value in Mind

By this time next week, your next email from us will be on a new platform as All Your Meals has moved from a third-party email newsletter platform to a custom-built email communication system developed in-house. Developed by Benny, actually.

While this may appear to be a small technology change, it reflects a much broader strategy of building the company in a way that maximizes long-term shareholder value. Key to management’s belief ecosystem is that costs must be kept in check. Both Benny and I went through the dot-com era and were blown away by the staggering amount of money spent on frivolity. Not now. Not under our watch!

Rather than continuing to pay outside providers for technology that we can develop and control ourselves, we are investing in proprietary infrastructure that can scale with the business and become part of our own operating platform. More work for us now? Sure.

Why This Matters to Shareholders

  • Lower Operating Costs — Reducing recurring third-party software fees allows more of our revenue and capital to remain within the company.
  • Greater Control — We control the platform, customer communication, data, branding, and future development rather than being dependent on an outside provider. And really, who knows if our data is being used by someone else?
  • Scalable Infrastructure — The system can grow with our customer base without requiring us to continually increase costs on a per-customer or per-email basis. This is important as we expand and add new customers.
  • More Technology Ownership — Each internally developed system adds to the technology and infrastructure that supports the All Your Meals business rather than simply creating another expense paid to a third party.
  • Focus on Shareholder Value — Every operational decision is increasingly being evaluated through the same lens: How can we build a more efficient, scalable, and valuable company while directing as much capital as possible toward sales and growth?

We believe disciplined control of costs, ownership of our technology, and efficient use of capital will become increasingly important as All Your Meals expands into additional markets. Every dollar we don’t spend on admin is a dollar that goes into marketing and, in turn, revenues!
